I would challenge anyone to find better

The website simply can't do justice to this wonderful hotel.
Location
It is extremely grand, spotlessly clean and has the most friendly and efficient staff.
Whilst being grand, it is certainly not pompous. The owners are very much in evidence and show a genuine interest in the welfare of the guests.
After a few days you feel that you are staying with friends in their fabulous house.
Guests come from all over Europe, mostly middle-aged or old. A few well-behaved children. Many come every year.The central location means you can walk everywhere in this stylish town.
Service
Merano was a retreat for the Empress of Austria and the town reflects this.
The only downside is that the hotel is situated next to a noisy river. But, after a few nights, you become accustomed to it.All staff are multilingual, helpful and friendly.
Gastronomy
The biggest pleasure for me was the buffet breakfast on the terrace.
Sport & Entertainment
Anything you can think of as a breakfast dish is there.
Dinner is an experience to behold. So much quality food that I learned to skip some of the courses!
The owner comes and speaks to each guest during dinner and shows a genuine interest.The indoor pool is warm and clean, with an attached jacuzzi (?spelling?). Never crowded.
Room
There is an adjacent multigym but, alas, no instuctions as to its use.
Free bicycles are available. They're much abused and not too good. But the staff are happy to pump up tyres or adjust the saddle.
Clever photography makes the garden appear larger than it is. It's still a good size, though.
"Wellness" seems to be a contintal thing. If having hot stones placed on your body or being covered in mud makes you feel fitter, then so be it.
A trifle old-fashioned. But extremely clean, comfortable and luxurious.
